Having a Good Relationship – What’s the Secret?
Having a good relationship can be a wonderful and joyful experience. But it needs work.
It needs tending to. It needs nourishment to grow strong and healthy.
Relationship Essential for Having a Good Relationship
We are almost done with 10 relationship essentials and here is #9:
Thou shalt gaze lovingly upon thy partner daily
and make frequent and meaningful
gestures of appreciation, admiration, and gratitude.
(Stan Tatkin)
To help illustrate the specialness of this quote. How loving and impactful it can be.
I’d like you to think of a parent gazing lovingly and happily at their newborn baby or infant child.
That beautiful moment when a parent is gazing warmly at their child and nothing else in the world matters at that moment.
That loving gaze that you get when you’re in the gaze of someone who loves you dearly.
A mother with her child; a father with his child; a spouse with their spouse; and a partner with their partner.
This is the whole idea behind this relationship quote.
Take a moment…
Think about when you catch your partner looking lovingly at you, how does that feel?
I would guess it feels pretty wonderful.
It lets you know you are loved and cared for.
When gestures of appreciation, admiration, and gratitude are freely given, it can be very uplifting and help you both connect and feel secure and loved by one another.
Having a Good Relationship – It’s in the Gaze
Think about times in your relationship when the gift of loving gaze are given.
How is your relationship impacted?
And if you’ve never had a moment where you’ve caught your spouse or partner gazing lovingly at you or vice versa maybe today is the day you can start.
Think of how you first met. The story of how you became a couple. What contributed to falling in love with each other.
As you recall your love for each other, what attracted you to each other, and how special you are to each other, notice how your gaze might soften…
